Net Effect!!!!!!

Finally, I'm posting my first blog on mainstream Internet. I mentioned this mainstream intrenet as I'm quite a regular blogger on my company blogosphere.

Till 2007 I was of the opinion that virtual life is no fun and who would like to live it anyways!!!! By then my affiar was net for only practical purpose like checking mails, occasional chatting on YM and others. For the final year in collge and for the 1 year at which I took coaching for my MBA exams in Delhi, I was a avid YM fan going in chat rooms and Role play rooms of Harry Potter. I'm a huge fan of HP :) . My aim was to see tht whether 1 can really find a true frnd on net or even love. I did :)

The lover part didn't lasted long. Phone no. exchanged, we talked for hrs and it was a fun time and then we seperated. But the frnd part turned out the best. She is still one of my best frnd till date even after 5 yrs and the fact tht we have met only once. So this proved and after my MBA started net took a very low ranking in my priority list. Real life was loads of fun for those 2 yrs and I was in constant touch with my first virtual frnd on phone anyways.

Well came along Sep 07 and I found myself in one place, Chennai for job, which is a nightmare for all North Indians, in tersm of language problem and weather, without any friend circle to pass time and so I joined a Harry Potter community to which I'm still a member and have loads of frnds in that. I shifted to Hyderabad in Oct 07 and as was on bench since Dec 07 and was online like crazy. Spent almost 12-14 hrs daily on net and somedays even more. I found a whole new aspect of virtual life then. That comm was almost like a family with every1 having nicks for another, fights, issues and even pairings :D

To cut a long story short, I am now quite active on internet mainly Orkut (2 profiles), FB, YM and gtalk, with quite a few good friends with whom I chat freuqently on call and have met them 2-3 times also, in Mumbai. No virtual friend from hyderabad though but as I've started expanding my horizon from this Feb (another new resolution u might say) I'm sure I'll have some frnds from here as well.

To end I would say many of my perceptions have been changed over this period of almost 2 yrs. I belive now that it is possible to have good frnds over net, to have some good time pass and to even find love (I sorta did, didn't I ;) ). I became too much involved here cuz of lack of friends in real life, but I belive that if one can try he/she can surely find a balance between both the lives.
